Concert in Blue
12th March 2022
Liverpool Welsh Choral raise over £1800 for the people of war-torn Ukraine.
Liverpool Welsh Choral stepped out of their classical comfort zone last Saturday evening and wowed their audience with an absolutely triumphant performance of Will Todd’s mix of sacred choral music and jazz, the brilliant Mass in Blue.
LWC’s Musical Director, Keith Orrell, led the Choir and wonderful accompanists, pianist Stephen Hargreaves, saxophonist Emily Burkhardt, double bassist Steve Berry and drummer Chris McIntyre through a performance of tremendous polish and spirit with the stunning soprano soloist, Hilary Cronin, providing the icing on the choral cake. The standing ovation received raised the roof and was truly well deserved by all!!
The concert, in the fabulous setting of the Great Hall at Liverpool Hope University, was dedicated to the people of Ukraine, with guests of honour the Reverend Dr. Taras Khomych, his family and members of the parish of St Sebastian’s Church, Fairfield which has a large Ukrainian community.
LWC are extremely grateful for the amazing generosity shown by the audience and Choir members who raised over £1800 in a retiring collection which will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
Liverpool Welsh Choral will next be performing at The Floral Pavilion, New Brighton on May 21st 2022.
