Would you like to join one of Liverpool’s leading choirs?

Singing in a choir is an uplifting experience! Music making is good for your health and provides an excellent opportunity to make new friends, so why not join us?

If you are looking for a choir offering great opportunities, then look no further!  Liverpool Welsh Choral is Merseyside’s longest established choir and continues to be one of the leading choirs in the area.

Whether you already sing with another choir, have done in the past or have little experience of singing in a choir, there could be a place for you.

We perform varied and challenging music, from large scale oratorios to lighter music – even jazz.  Look at what we can offer currently:

  • Professional and dynamic direction from Keith Orrell, and expert rehearsal accompanist Stephen Hargreaves
  • Performance venues including The Tung Auditorium, Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and we’re touring to venues beyond Merseyside
  • We perform with top international soloists, class orchestras and instrumentalists
  • Rehearsals in large, airconditioned space in Liverpool University, with the facility for sectional rehearsals led by our choral leaders
  • Free parking
  • The opportunity to attend free vocal coaching and sight singing classes
  • Reduced subscription rates for new-comers and students

Above all, we are a friendly and inclusive group that provides an opportunity to share common interests in a purposeful and enjoyable environment.

Exciting news! The Liverpool Welsh Choral is launching a recruitment drive. We would welcome all voice parts but especially altos and basses.

Our official launch event will be held on Wednesday 15th April. Prospective members are invited to join us for a taster session and a glass of fizz at the first rehearsal of our summer repertoire, which includes Vivaldi’s Gloria, for our concert at St Andrews Church, West Kirby on Saturday 13th June 2026. Taster sessions will also be available at subsequent Wednesday rehearsals…but no fizz.

Many singers are members of more than one choir and benefit from the opportunity to work with a different Music Director to perform a varied repertoire.

This is a wonderful developmental opportunity for those who wish to expand their singing experience under the direction of our dynamic MD Keith Orrell.

We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6.45-9pm in the Barkla Lecture Theatre, Chadwick Building, University of Liverpool, L69 7ZL.

For membership enquiries and to book your place at the launch event please send us a message!

A message from Ioan Wardhaugh, a member of Liverpool Welsh Choral . . .

I’ve sung with Liverpool Welsh Choral for the past couple of years – and we have a really exciting season of concerts coming up with a great offer for student membership!!

This year we will be performing Will Todd’s Passion Music at the Tung Auditorium and Vivaldi’s Gloria at St Andrew’s Church on the Wirral. You are obviously encouraged to sing in all of the concerts – but if you have commitments with work, it is flexible.
It’s a really welcoming group of singers, and while it is the Welsh Choral Union there is no obligation to either speak Welsh or be Welsh – plenty of the members aren’t.
We are worked to a high standard by the conductor, but it is all in all really good fun. Rehearsals are in the Chadwick building on Liverpool University Campus on a Wednesday evening 6.45-9.00pm.
As a student or a new-comer into the choir, membership is heavily discounted and includes music hire, all the rehearsals and concerts.
So drop us a message if you’re interested in joining us, we’d love to have you on board!”
Come along to one of our Wednesday evening rehearsals for a few weeks without any long-term obligation.
Simply send us your details below (see form) and a member of the team will contact you and arrange for someone to buddy with you for the evening.
